French Polish Finish

The ukuleles were leveled with 100, 180, 220 and 320 grit sand paper. A flash coat of shellac was sprayed and the wood pores were filled using the pumice method. Using a small pad with alcohol and a bit of pumice the pores are filled. The pumice is abrasive mixing the wood, shellac, pumice and alcohol to fill the pores. This process took about three to four levels. After filling the pores the ukuleles were sanded with 400 grit.
French polishing was started using a dark shellac to enhance the Koa grain patterns. The ten coats of shellac was applied before leveling with 600 grit sand paper.
