Before attaching the neck to the body, I made sure the dovetail surfaces touched. I slipped carbon paper between the joints to identify the high and low spots. The joint was shimmed to insure a tight fit. 
The neck and body were aligned and dry fitted with proper clamping. The fretboard was glued to the top, the dovetail joint was glued and clamped for 24 hours.
