Next Koa Tenor Ukulele Project

The next project is a Koa tenor ukulele for my brother -in-law Miles. This will be my 7th instrument  project: Tenor Ukulele #007.  Miles had bought two billets of curly Koa when he was vacationing on the "Big Island" of Hawaii in 2010. One billet is very curly and has a sap wood edge ( the white colored portion). The Koa wood is beautiful.

We figured out the specifications for the ukulele:

  • Back: curly Koa
  • Neck: Mahogany
  • Bridge &  Fretboard : Rosewood

  • Fret markers: Abalone 4mm
  • Saddle & Nut: Bone
  • Bridge Pins: Ebony
  • Tuners: Gotoh sealed gear black
