Finish Preparation

The sound hole was cut out with a Dremel circle cutter and sanded smooth. The finish preparation included sanding with 180 grit sandpaper to remove scratches and scraper marks. Final sanding was done with the following grits: 220, 320, and 400.  Minor gaps between the binding were filled with koa dust and super glue. The ukulele was sealed with two coats of shellac and the pores were filled with Z-Poxy filler and leveled with 400 and 600 grit sandpaper.

Then the ukulele body was sprayed with two coats of shellac.  The final finish will use the French polish technique applying multiple coats of shellac on the ukulele.
