Prepare Koa Top, Sides & Back

For Ken's tenor ukulele, I selected Koa wood from the "Big Island"(Hawaii). It was purchased in Hilo in 2011. The sides, top and back plates were milled from a block of Koa with a bandsaw and thickness sander. The width of the Koa is about 1/8". The sides and back will eventually be 3/32" thick. The top will be thinned to 1/16".

The top and back consists of four consecutive sawn plates. The plates were "bookmatched" forming a mirror image and glued.
