The ukuleles were prepared for finishing by sanding with 100 to 400 grit sandpaper, sealing with shellac, and pore filling with Z-Poxy epoxy filler. Koa wood is very porus and requires filling to achieve a smooth finish. After spraying and filling the character of the wood is starting to appear. There is an abundance of flame that changes with the angle of light. I am very pleased with the quality of this wood. The filler was leveled and sanded smooth with 400 and 600 grit sandpaper and sealed with 2 coats of shellac. The ukuleles are ready for final lacquer finishing
