The mahogany heel and tail blocks were roughed out this morning. Once the blocks are prepared, the sides are glued to the heel and tail blocks forming the outline of the ukulele body. The heel block is slightly thicker to accommodate the neck and fretboard.
I decided to attach the neck to the body with a bolt-on system rather than a butt-joint and glue. The heel block was drilled with a 11/16" Forstner bit the depth of the bolt head a 1/4" hole for the shaft. The neck will be attached to the body with a bolt and barrel nut in the neck eliminating the need to glue the neck to the body. The fretboard will be glued to the top (soundboard).
