I stripped the finish off the area where the fretboard is going to be glued with "Citristrip". Apply the stripper, wait 30 minutes, scrape off with a straight edge razor and neutralize with a damp paper towel.
Then the neck was attached to the ukulele body using a safer method than my last experience of slipping clamps and flying ukulele parts. The fretboard was clamped using cauls under the soundboard and over the fretboard with a "C" clamp. I used my "Pony" pipe clamp to apply horizontal pressure to the neck heel (neck block). The pipe clamp sits on the workbench and is stable during and after applying pressure. No mishaps this time.
