The finish on the ukuleles were set to dry for at least a week. The water based lacquer finish was not smooth with quite a bit of orange peel. I leveled the finish with 600 grit sandpaper. Then I started the "Micro mesh" starting at 1200 and ending at 12000 grit. The finish was still uneven so I decided to French polish the ukuleles to even out the low spots. The french polishing helped a lot in getting the final finish to an acceptable level.
