Purfling and binding protect the edges of the ukulele, minimizes moisture intrusion and adds aesthetic value. The purfling consists of two black/white stock joined with the white inside and black outside. The result is a wide white line within two thin black lines. The 1/8" binding is faux tortoise. The purfling and binding were glued on with Weld-on plastic glue, taped and trimmed. I had some problems matching the back heel area. The mitered match was off. Next time, I will dry fit and miter before glueing the purfling and binding.
