The "Omaha" is Completed!! The bone saddle and nut were cut and shaped to their proper height. The nut slots were cut with an xacto saw and slotted with my Stew-Mac fret slotting files. The ukulele was strung with Aquila low G strings. Weighing 17 ounces, the ukulele is very light. My early pre-1930 Martin 12 fret tenor weighs 17 ounces. The "Omaha" ukulele projects sound very well and has excellent sustain. The intonation is spot on, confirming the accuracy of my new fret slotting jig. Overall, this ukulele is the best sounding so far. I believe the improved sound is due to the dovetail joint which provides a wood to wood connection, the carbon fibre neck reinforcement provides stiffness to transfer string vibrations and the seasoned 1950s Koa wood provides vintage resonance.
