The back was sanded down to 3/32" thick and braced with Sitka spruce. This ukulele will have a 15' radius arched back. I recently purchased a 15' radius dish that is topped with sand paper. I sanded the braces in the dish to get the proper radius curve. Then the braces were glued to the back in radius dish using my "Go Bar" clamping system. The braces were scalloped and finished with a small Ibex thumb plane. A spruce center strip was glued to the seam of the book matched back plates.
