Neck & Body Jig

After, spending hours getting a good joint between the ukulele body and neck by "flossing" (sanding between the heel area of the body and neck), I thought to myself there's has to be a better way to do this task. I was inspired by a heel block jig using a "robo-sander" in the GAL magazine. I traced the upper bout edge onto 3/4" plywood, cut and sanded it to shape. The neck is held down with a 3/4" plywood caul and two knobs. The robo-sander rubber bearing follows the jig replicating slight curve of the body onto the neck. The jig works. I still floss the neck for about 10 minutes to fine tune the fit.
